THOSE WHO CAME TO MY HOME

Those Who Came to My Home (آنها که به خانه من آمدند ) is the second novel by Shams Langeroodi, following March on Hollow Land (رژه بر خاک پوک), though the two are independent stories and can be read separately، they are interrelated. Those Who Came to My Home first published in 2015 by Nashr Ofoq and later reissued with an updated ending. This novel,

Those Who Came to My Home is narrated in the first person by a character named Shams Langeroodi — a fictionalized version of the author. Shortly after the publication of his earlier novel, March on Hollow Land , he is visited at home by a tall, roughly forty-year-old man holding a bouquet, who confronts him with a complaint: he claims that the previous book portrayed him and others like him inaccurately.

Confused, the narrator tries to understand the visitor’s claim. The man insists that Shams write a new book — one that tells the opposite of what was written before. What unfolds in the novel is the narrator’s attempt to unravel this demand, blurring the lines between reality, perception, and fiction. As the story progresses, the protagonist begins to feel that others — “those” — have come into his home, leading him into paranoia, doubt, and even hallucination or obsession about their presence.
